“As first-time parents, we were grateful to have someone as capable and thoughtful as Nan as our postpartum doula. She seamlessly integrated herself into the rhythm of our family life and sent tremendously useful resources and follow up information after each visit.
Nan is intuitive and adaptable - she never pushed any sort of agenda and was very intentional about creating space for us to define how she could support us best. She listened carefully in our initial session and provided frequent check-ins on any anxieties or concerns we raised throughout her time with us. Nan is meticulous about providing sustaining care in a way that is non-intrusive and wholly supportive.
Nan was also terrific at using our time together in highly practical ways. I will always remember learning how to use our Sollywrap while baby-wearing a bag of cheddar puffs with Nan instructing us on how to adjust the fabric and tighten the wrap so that we were ready once our daughter was born. She came to the hospital and coached us through the first meconium diaper and walked us through the first bath once we got home (with awesome techniques we still use today!). Her calm competence made things that initially overwhelmed us seem not just possible but straightforward and simple.
Nan’s support evolved alongside us as we grew as parents. From her first week with us baking lactation cookies and providing massages to teaching us swaddling and soothing techniques, she always met us exactly where we were at. Nan was responsive to the entire family’s needs, acting as a supportive caregiver to all of us (even our cat!) and tending to everyone’s emotional, mental, and physical health. We are so glad she was a part of the first month of our daughter’s life.”

“I don’t know where to start when reflecting on our time with Nan, she was such a calming grace for our family during our time of adjustment as we grew our family from 3 to 5. From the moment we met Nan she clicked with my husband and I and our toddler son. It was no surprise that she seamlessly clicked with our twin babies. We (and they) trusted her nearly immediately; it’s quite a skill to be able to comfort two newborns! She took care of our whole family (cooking, playing with our toddler, making sure mama got a shower, sleep and some TLC, teaching mama to tandem breastfeed, giving dada some adult conversation, etc.). Truly cannot say enough good things - we love her and are sad to have ‘outgrown’ her visits.”

“ As a first time parent with no family in the area, I needed extra support and was looking for experienced doulas to help me navigate motherhood. Nan and Lis were the perfect team to help us get off to the right start. They helped us understand our patient rights before the delivery, were fierce advocates for us during delivery, and helped us settle back home with our newborn. They really listened and honored our preferences throughout this time. Having a doula helped my husband and I feel safe and heard during this vulnerable time. With our newborn, Nan was gentle with burps and soothed him to sleep. We are so happy with our experience with Nan and Lis. They went above and beyond our expectations!”
“I felt so comfortable preparing for our birth with Nan and Lis. They made me feel like a large part of the birthing experience and helped me to approach the most intensely beautiful day of my life with confidence and patience. They were by our side in the hospital, helped ensure the medical staff adhered to our birth plan, and taught us valuable child rearing techniques. For any expecting father who is not certain how to get ready for childbirth or how to best support the mother through birthing, Nan and Lis will get you to and past the point the point of preparedness and make you feel like an all star birthing partner. I highly recommend them for their guidance, support, and knowledge. They made the birthing and the first couple months as smooth as could be and I am forever grateful for them. “
